Disco

On the 6th of November our school had a disco for all ages- one for junior students and a senior one. The juniors went from 5.00pm to 6.00pm and from 6.00 to 6.30 we shared a great tea and then the senior one started. It went from 6:30 to 8.30. You brought $2 and you got a fizzy drink and good music to dance to. It took almost an hour to do the setting up. It was a great night... we definitely will be doing it again in the future!!

Susan Rifici

For the last 2 terms Susan has been coming into room4 to teach us about Healing Species. Every Thursday afternoon she has been coming in with a different dog from the Nelson Ark. We wrote letters to the circus and some products companies to ask them to stop testing their products on animals and test them in the labs. She also has been teaching us to let it out if you're angry or sad -just to let it out don't bottle it up. She showed us a video of standing up to people if they are treating you wrongly and to tell someone that will help you. It was a great learning experience and very inspiring.

Athletics day

On the 14th of November the Athletics day was held at the Moutere sports complex. Its always held on the nearest Saturday to Armistice day and it involves a whole range of activities which includes high jump, long jump, runing and sprinting. And there are always races at the end the RSA which the 2nd fastest kid in each school races in and the peace shield which is the fastest kid in each school and Brad won it!!!! The parents race is quite popular with the parents that can be bothered to run and not make up excuses. Jordi and Sebastians dad always gives it a go and he usually comes out first also Jamies dad Mark won his race. It is always a great day and most people enjoyed every minute of it.

Look out next term!

waimarama sanctuary visit

On Thursday the 17th of September my class went to the Waimarama sanctuary up the Brook. There were 6 activities we started at 6 went to 1 and so on. our favourite activity was the 5th one where we got to go into the stream and catch little fish food.
The other interesting activity was number two it was all about whales. We saw lots of whale bones. I found out that a blue whale is 33m long WOW that’s huge!!!
The 1st one we went to number 6 i thought was quite weird it’s was singing and puppets it bit odd for me.
Activity 1 was fun because we got to run around and play a game.
The worst one for me was the activity where we had to be blind folded and go around and guess what was in the box. There were fungi and a stoat (EW) a kiwi, leaf litter, birds nest, moss and Owls wing (also gross).
On activity 3 1 person had to go into the middle of a circle and have an egg in front of them. one person had to sneak up and try to get the egg but if the person in the middle pointed at them they were out.
It was a great day out and a fun experience and we would love to go to it next year.

leek and potato soup

Hey,
IN the start of term 3 our class made leek and potato soup.
We planted leeks in the middle of term 1 and they were ready by the end of term 2
so we thought we would make soup. We prepared the bread by putting yeast in water along with sugar and we put it by the fire. Once it had foamed up we added the dry ingredients and kneaded it. It was time to make the soup!!! We cut up all the ingredients and boiled them added the stock and blended it together. We added milk and walla there's the soup.

MASSIVE - a real drama!

Massive is a Motueka dance, and drama show.

The 6 schools that were involved were Tasman, Brooklyn, Motueka South, Parklands, Upper Moutere and Riwaka. Lower Moutere and Tasman Bay Christian schools presented some artwork.

The theme was “Imagine”.

Each presentation had to be 8 minutes long. Tasman’s one was about a girl that was feeling low then she went to a spiritual world where she found inner strength.

It took a lot of hard work to put the show together. First we chose a theme to do it on. ..After that we chose some music to dance to.

We did a hip-hop and a spirit dance. The spirit dance included our Kotuku dancing. It took 5 weeks to get it all together from the first ideas to the final performance.

We are all so proud of what we have achieved!
